Portrait & Landscape photographer Christchurch Dorset & Hampshire

Welcome to Ian McMillan Photography,

I developed an interest in photography when I was in my early teens and I went on to attend my local camera club in Cumbernauld. This was where I learned the basics of framing my subjects, exposure and aperture and also about developing my own prints (I could only afford to do B&W though). My mother allowed me to have a darkroom in our house so I was able to pursue this.
At the time I didn’t have the confidence to pursue a career in photography and when I left school ended up in a retail environment.
In my various roles, I was able to use my photographic skills to put together training manuals that required visual instruction.
More recently I owned a pet shop and within the shop I created a small studio where I was able to do pet portraits before giving this up to concentrate on renovating our home and building a studio into it.
I get a lot of enjoyment from my photography whether that is my studio / location work or from my landscape projects, which I use as relaxation. It is great when clients tell you how much they love the results and even better when they purchase them too.

I am a member of The National Photographic Society and The Societies, which have proven to be a great source of information, training and inspiration, which I also get from checking out Pinterest, Viewbug, my surroundings (living on the south coast and next to The New Forest, I’m spoilt for choice) and even YouTube. For training The Photography Academy has been great source of knowledge.

I can help with any photographic event, project or occasion and would be pleased to provide you with a quote for my services which I am sure you will find competitive.
